The Ultima Thule Offline Reader
Release 2.01
Copyright (C) 1993-1995 Ultima Thule Software,
All Rights Reserved.
THOR 2.01 is an advanced multi-format offline reader, supporting the
QWK, Fido, UUCP, SOUP, Bluewave, Omen, ABBS, MBBS and Hippo (BBBS)
message formats.
Changes from 2.0 to 2.01:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THOR:
- Fixed the hide bottom row on the threading gadgets in the main window.
- The palette in the config could sometimes be ignored. This is fixed.
- The wrong version of bbsread.library was included in the previous
version. That version had a small bug in the replystring code that
was fixed in the library I was supposed to include (but didn't)
- Double- and Color-quoting fixed to work correctly on OS 2.x
systems.
- The minimum width was calculated wrong in two windows.
ConfigTHOR:
- Cancel in the palette requester on 4 color screens doesn't crash
anymore. Fixed a few other palette related bugs too.
- The palette could be saved incorrect sometimes, this is fixed.
SendUUCP and PackSOUP:
- Fixes a minor problem with empty mails.
- PackSOUP would give Enforcer hits when subscribing newsgroups.
UpdateThor:
- Now able to upgrade from a THOR 1.25 installation.
- Updated to handle installation on MultiUser filesystem
partitions better.
Highlights in THOR 2.01:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Flexible message database system with true history, message marking,
searching and threading. In 2.0, this database has been expanded to
allow all sorts of messages (NetNews, Fido, ...). Xpk packing is
also supported directly.
- Copyback and write-through file buffering system.
- Internal editor with ARexx and macro recording support.
- Extensive ARexx support with the main THOR ARexx port, the bbsread
command host library and the FSE internal editor (a total of 121
commands). The bbsread command host library can be used to access all
databases without THOR running. Many useful and powerful ARexx
scripts are included.
- Everything can be controlled from the keyboard.
- All events (messages you write, etc.) can be edited freely after
having been entered.
- Advanced purging system with Global settings for days and/or number
of messages to keep. Each conference can also have separate settings.
- User name database with a fast look-up table of names that has improved
in 2.0 by providing an editor.
- File database.
- Kill/Emphasize database with advanced support for all message fields
and several "haze"-levels. Wildcards are fully supported.
- Locale support.
- Support for 15 international character sets.
- Supports new 3.0 features (newlook menus, memory pools, interleaved
screens, 24 bit palette, screen and window pictures, ....)
- Font sensitive and Style Guide compliant user interface with a
listview that support true ANSI colors, multi- and dragselection of
enties.
- Advanced and flexible forward string, tagfile and signature system.
- It is possible to edit data, edit text, freeze and activate events.
- All search functions can take standard AmigaDOS wildcards.
- Optional reflow of message text imported into the editor.
- Search read mode implemented. It is now possible to read messages
found in a message search just like in any other read mode.
- Extra toggle gadget in the main window for toggling headers found on
Fido/UUCP/SOUP on and off.
- Crossposting on names and addresses available. Can be used in
combination with crossposting to several conferences.
- RAmiga-V will paste and RAmiga-C will copy from/to a stringgadget.
- Progressbar on most time-consuming operations.
- Extensive documentation (450K+).
+ a lot more..
To install this upgrade, please use the supplied Installer script.
*********************** !!! IMPORTANT !!! ****************************
Because of the conversion that takes place if you upgrade from 1.x, it
is HIGHLY recommended that a backup is performed of your old 1.x
database before you try to install this version.
